Inside the Blue Box
"So let me get this straight", Lizzy said while trying to catch her breath, "those things were aliens and were trying to kill the entire human race, and you stop people and aliens like them on a regular basis?"
The man straightened his bow tie and with a slight smile he answered her with a simple "Yes."
"Who are you?"
"I'm the Doctor."
"Doctor who?"
"Just the Doctor." He stopped in front of an old blue police box, snapped his fingers, and the door swung open. "Now, shall we?"
He held out his hand towards her to inviter her in. But she had barely met the man. Even if he did just saved the planet, how did she now if he could be trusted? And yet, there was something about him that made her want to tell him her entire life story and let him take her to the end of the universe and back. She stretched her hand forward and let him guide her into the tiny blue box.
To her astonishment, the box wasn't as small as she thought it was. "It's bigger on the inside." She gasped in disbelief.
"Yes it is". The Doctor seemed pleased by this remark. Lizzy watched carefully as he began to push buttons, jiggle gadgets, and turn wheels in the middle of the room.
"What is it?" She asked as she pulled out an old camera from her bag.
"It's a TARDIS. Stands for time and relative dimension in space, in other words its…"
"A spaceship time machine." She interrupted him.
"Exactly!" He exclaimed with delight. "Oh you are a clever one."
Lizzy began snapping pictures from every angle she could possibly imagine. It had been a very long time since she felt so inspired by something, or someone.
"Why are you taking pictures?" the Doctor seemed very confused.
"Sorry" Lizzy apologized "it's kinda just what I do."
"Oh, you're a photographer too."
"What do you mean too?"
"Along side the arty stuff, drawing and painting. The stuff your friend gave you for your birthday." He stopped buzzing around the buttons suddenly. "Oh! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!"
Lizzy burst into laughter "Thank you."
"So!" The Doctor got right up to her face, "Where would you like to go for your birthday Elizabeth? That is assuming you want to come along with me."
"Of course I want to come with you!" She was astonished at how quickly those words had come out of her mouth. She knew nothing about the Doctor but felt as if she could trust him with her life. "I can go anywhere in time?"
"Or space." He waved his hands around as if to gesture the universe.
"Why don't we start with something small."
"Smalls great." His smile go wider "I've got just the place." He ran over to the controls pushed some more buttons and pulled on a lever. "Tell me Elizabeth, have you ever heard of a little gathering known as Woodstock?"

Meeting The Doctor

Meeting The Doctor
Lizzy wrapped her newly washed apron around her waist and picked up her notepad and pencil. She couldn't wait until she had saved up enough money for the new camera she wanted.
"Hey Lizzy!" Another waitress named Alise took her apron off the hooks.
"Oh, hey Alise. How's it going?"
"Pretty good. How about you?"
"LIZZY! TABLE ELEVEN!" The manager shouted from the front.
"Duty calls" she smiled at Alise.
She took out her notepad and pencil and walked over to the table.
"Alright I'll have a coffee, black, and bacon cheese burger combo, a large order of onion rings, a piece of blueberry pie with extra whipped cream, a corn dog, and a large strawberry shake." The man didn't even take a breath between items.
Lizzy finally looked up at the man from the order paper. There was something about him that was very intriguing. Maybe it was the bow tie. She quickly shook it off. "Anything else?"
"Nope, I think that will do it."
Lizzy poured his coffee, walked away and ripped off his ticket and gave it to the cook. The diner was empty except for the strange man. She sat on a stool behind the counter next to Alise.
"There's something strange about that man. He ordered all that food for just himself. But he's so skinny."
"Never mind him." Alise had a huge mischievous grin on her face.
"What's going on?"
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" Alise practically screamed and thrust a huge package into Lizzy's hands.
"I can't believe you remembered! You didn't have to get me anything". She quickly opened ripped off the paper and gasped. It was a brand new sketch pad, pencils, and paint. "Oh my gosh! Alise this is too much".
"Just smile and say thank you".
"Thank you". She put the present in her bag and gave Alise a hug.
"Order up!" the cook called.
Lizzy placed all of the food on a tray and took it over to the strange man. He didn't even look at her. His eyes were fixed out of the window and across the street. "Thank you" he muttered as she put the food in front of him without moving his gaze.
"Yep. Do you need anything else?"
"No this is perfect." He finally turned to her "And you" he leaned closer to read her name tag, "Miss Elizabeth are perfect."
"What!?"
He threw a few bucks down on the table next his untouched food stood up and moved closer to her until their noses were less than an inch apart.
"Now," he stated very calmly, "when I say duck...DUCK!"
They both dropped to the floor as something smashed through one window and out the other. He quickly stood up and looked out the now smashed window to where his gaze had been only moments ago. He helped Lizzy up, walked over to the counter, grabbed her bag and slung it over his shoulder. "Right, Elizabeth." He grabbed her hand and looked straight into her eyes. "Run!"
